Volunteers from our friends on the phone service, Silver Talk boosted their digital skills thanks to the experts at leading cloud contact centre and unified communications platform provider 8x8.
As part of our Unlocking Social Value programme, 8x8 provided an hour long webinar session for ten of our Silver Talk volunteers at our Stanley Skills Hub in November.
The session addressed how to contact businesses online, how to avoid common frustrations while using websites or phone systems and digital security. The volunteers were given essential information about how to stay safe online and feel more confident in using the internet.
8x8 was also able to provide a special ‘Top Tips’ flyer to all Silver Talk volunteers and service users ensuring as many people as possible could benefit from their expert advice on the best ways to talk with people. All the volunteers who attended were also given 8x8 goodie bags.
8x8’s ESG Coordinator Elizabeth Harris, who ran the session, said: “It was fantastic for us to meet, share stories, advice and tips with some of Karbon Homes’ volunteers who we hope all came away with more knowledge.
“We hoped to improve customers’ knowledge of how personal data is used online to increase their confidence in using the internet and enable them to have better online experiences. If just one person avoids an online scam or cyber-attack as a result of attending, we will be delighted.”
Our Unlocking Social Value programme matches the social value commitments of our contractors and suppliers with organisations across the region.
