New planning application for The Haven in Prudhoe

We have submitted new plans to Northumberland County Council to build bungalows at The Haven in Prudhoe town centre.

We have revised our original plans for the site after listening to feedback, having first proposed building houses, and we consulted on our new approach at a meeting in Prudhoe back in July this year.

The project aims to build six new two bedroom bungalows at The Haven, available for affordable rent.

If approved, the ten existing flat roof bungalows would be demolished to make way for the new development.

We have been working closely with the residents at The Haven to rehouse them in  appropriate, accessible homes in the location of their choice.

Currently, six of the 10 homes at The Haven remain occupied, and we are in touch with all the remaining residents about their housing preferences.

Residents will be given all the time they need to find a new home, and we will not progress our redevelopment plans until they are all satisfactorily rehoused.

We would like to thank all those who responded to the consultation on our new proposals. The feedback largely centered on the following themes:

• Positive reaction to our decision to seek permission for new bungalows for older residents in this location, rather than family homes.
• Concern about the impact of rehousing older residents out of their homes on The Haven, and whether they would have the right to return to the new bungalows.
• Concern about increased traffic and parking problems, caused by the construction of the new development.

Our new development plans aim to address the local community’s concerns.

The new plans include 10 parking spaces for residents of the new bungalows. There are currently no designated parking areas for The Haven residents. As part of the planning process, the council will consider the impact of the new development on traffic and parking.
