This striking new development by Karbon Homes in Sacriston, County Durham, has just been granted planning permission.
The 25 new family homes will be built at the junction of Durham Road and Plawsworth Road in the heart of Sacriston.
The existing Graham Court sheltered housing scheme on the site does not meet modern standards, and Karbon housing officers have been working with the residents there to re-house them in better quality homes.
When the last residents have found new homes, Karbon Homes will then move to demolish the Graham Court building, and it will be replaced by this new development, designed by BSBA Architects.
The site will contain a mixture of 10 two-bed townhouses, 13 two-bed houses, and 2 three-bed houses.
The three-storey townhouses will have flexible layouts which will allow the residents to choose how they wish to live – whether to have their main living space at garden-level or on the top floor.
Karbon Homes is investing £8.5m in three different development projects in Sacriston – the recently completed St Cuthbert’s Drive, bungalows on Uphill Drive and now these new family homes on Plawsworth Road.
Karbon is a long term investor in the village, as the landlord of nearly 600 homes, and the development team identified there was a shortage of high quality, affordable homes for local families locally.

The new developments coming forward in Sacriston are just part of the 550 new affordable homes being built by Karbon across the North East and Yorkshire in 2019/20.
