Taking further steps to protect the most vulnerable in our communities, The Government has established a system to make sure that residents who are most at risk of illness will receive free essential food parcels delivered to their front doors.
Local Authorities across the North East are setting up community hubs to support this national effort and provide a local supply of emergency food parcels.
If you have a medical condition which makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus (COVID-19), you could be eligible for support through this system.
What do I need to do?
To be added to the list you need to register and tell the Government whether you need support or not. Please register here on the .GOV website. You can register on behalf of someone else.
How long will it take till I start receiving support?
It may take time for any support offered through this service to arrive. In the meantime, wherever possible you should continue to rely on friends, family and wider support for help.
I’m not eligible but I still need support, what do I do?
For anyone struggling during these difficult times, there is help out there. Many local authorities and organisations have set up community support groups and databases, helping to signpost you to support available in your area.
