Our Careers
We’re proud to employ over 1,000 people who are dedicated to providing essential and important services to around 60,000 customers.
We truly believe that our success is driven by our talented and committed team, and we invest in their growth and development through training and a range of opportunities.
And promoting equity, celebrating diversity and championing the rights of our customers and colleagues is vital to us, too – find out more below. Making sure we reward our colleagues and offer a range of benefits is also really important to us. so we offer competitive rates of pay, healthcare plans, wellbeing initiatives and much more.
Here at Karbon, we also strongly believe that we don’t juggle work and life, rather we balance work and life. We have family-friendly policies and a range of agile and flexible working options available.
Our benefits are designed with our colleagues in mind. They’re not just financial rewards, but a variety of perks that enhance your work and personal life and make you feel valued as an employee.
Our salary structure is simple and consistent. When we hire for a role, we check we’re paying the going rate and then we review it again every three years. You also receive an annual pay award.
Most desk-based roles work in a blended way to support our customers, colleagues and the business. You and your team decide how and where you will work, including at home, in the field and other remote working options, enabling you to take an agile approach.
Annual leave is vital to a healthy work-life balance. We offer 26 days annual leave, rising to 31 days after three years, and bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time). You can buy and sell up to a week of leave each year. We also gift you a day’s leave for your birthday.
We offer enhanced family leave and pay including maternity, paternity and adoption. We have flexible working options for all colleagues and a range of special leave entitlements to support colleagues with dependents.
Convenient and secure savings and low interest loans are available through the credit union, a financial and co-operative owned and run by members. They encourage savings and borrowing based on what you can afford.
We encourage sustainable travel and have a range of options depending on roles. For posts with significant business miles, we offer a car payment and 35p mileage rate. All other roles will be able to claim business mileage. Trade colleagues will have the use of a vehicle.
We give you an additional £580 every year towards a range of benefits including private medical insurance, health cash plan upgrade, health screening, technology purchases, charity giving, buying annual leave or you can take it as cash.
A welcoming and supportive environment at Karbon is enhanced with a selection of benefits to support colleague wellbeing, including access to the Wellness Cloud – an online support programme - the Headspace app, wellbeing events and campaigns, health cash plan, counselling services and an employee assistance helpline.
Karbon, we have development for everyone, and what that development looks like is down to you! You’re empowered to access a range of development opportunities that will support your personal and professional learning – from formal qualifications, to internal programmes, attending conferences, professional accreditations and more.
We actively encourage you to create a bespoke development pathway with support from your manager and our team of development experts.
It’s not just about getting to the next step either – in fact most of our training activity focuses on supporting people with their continued professional development in their current role, helping them to stay on top of their game. For example, we have supported joiners to gain locksmithing skills, housing officers to gain mediation skills and our communications team to gain videography skills and qualifications.
the heart of our culture is ensuring and optimising our colleagues’ health and wellbeing.
Our wellbeing activity is focused on areas that colleagues have told us are important to them, as you can see in the infographic. Each theme is supported by a senior leader at Karbon.
Here at Karbon Homes, we’re renowned for our warmth and our welcoming, passionate and inclusive nature. We promote equity, celebrate diversity and champion the rights of our customers and colleagues.
Valuing diversity brings new perspectives, allows us to reach the widest pool of talent and ensures we understand and reflect the perspectives of our customers. We believe we can only be our best when we can be ourselves.
While we are very proud of our journey so far, we are by no means finished; we will continue to take meaningful steps to ensure we are the very best we can be.
To support candidates through their recruitment journey, we offer a range of reasonable adjustments, including:
· Where we hold the interview
· Questions ahead of the interview
· Accepting your application in a different way
· Providing the job role information in a different way
· Extra time for assessments.
· Working with access to work
· Accessible office equipment.
We also have a guaranteed interview scheme for people with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria for the role.
When we talk about inclusion and belonging, we can often think about issues such as gender, race or disability – but it can also include social mobility, especially in the workplace.
Social mobility is all about making sure everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of how much money they have, where they were born or raised or even where they went to school. For everyone to have an equal chance to thrive, we need the same access to resources to remove barriers. We need to get everyone to the starting line together, which is where the New Start scheme comes into its own.
The scheme supports people aged over 25 living in a Karbon home to access a paid work placement.
