In partnership with WinG (Wayout in Gateshead) Karbon Homes is offering residents the opportunity to take part in a FREE outdoor activities programme.

Whether your new year’s resolution is to learn a new skill, meet new people or to get fitter and healthier, or you’re simply looking for something to brighten up the fairly dreary month of January, Karbon Homes has a fantastic opportunity for you.

In partnership with WinG (Wayout in Gateshead), an outdoor education centre, Karbons’ Customer and Community Engagement Team is offering residents the opportunity to take part in a FREE outdoor activities programme.

Lindsey Porter, Community Involvement Officer, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for any of our residents, giving them the chance to try a new activities they may not have done before.

“With the chance to have a go at anything from climbing, forest/bush craft, gorge walking, kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering, hill walking, team building and expeditions, the outdoor activity programmes from WinG are a lot of fun and great for learning new skills and meeting new people.”

The pilot programme will be delivered to two groups of eight in the New Year and is open to Karbon residents living in and around western Newcastle and Gateshead.

Lindsey added: “For those who live in the city centre, having the opportunity to get out in to the beautiful countryside that we have in the region and participate in outdoor activities like this, is often rare.

“Transport and equipment, such as waterproofs, fleeces and boots, is supplied and as both of the groups are limited to eight people, spaces are likely to fill up quickly so don’t hesitate to get in touch”.

The activities carried out by both the groups will be tailored to the preferences of group members. As well as supplying all the equipment needed, WinG have a mini bus and will provide free transport for residents who are able to meet at the designated pick up point.
