A day in the life of a Foundations Support Officer

Hi, my name's Hayley Woodhouse. Up until recently I was the Support Officer for Karbon’s Foundations for Life team
Working within the employability and digital team no two days are the same!

A typical day might be:

08:30am - Arrived in the office and check for phone messages and emails and reply as needed. I had previously been asked by one of our Employability officers Helen Stevenson to attend a jobs fair event at Newcastle Library. So after all messages responded to make sure that we had everything needed to set up our stall at the jobs fair including, Karbon banners, current Karbon vacancies and the most important thing everyone attends the events for … the freebies!!

10am -  Arrived at Newcastle library and whilst Helen was presenting Karbon and our employability service to the attendees set up the stall and make sure everything was ready for the start of the event.

11am -  Customers begin visiting the stall asking lots of questions about Karbon Homes and the job opportunities we have available. Helen and I take names and contact details of everyone we speak to and advise we will look at Helens calendar when we go back to the office and call back with an appointment for in depth 1-2-1 employability support. We are the busiest stall there, everyone wants to know about Karbon!

2pm -  Back in the office – sorting through names and addresses for everyone we spoke to and try to plan when Helen will visit everyone – The North is a huge area and people had travelled from all over Newcastle to attend the jobs fair! I create a virtual map and plan certain areas on specific days of the week and where possible look for local venues such as libraries to host the appointment.

5pm – Home time! After such a busy day we have meet tonnes of people and managed to call back everyone as promised with appointments booked in with Helen for the following week!!
