Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week - Becky Richards

Our next apprentice who we are profiling as part of National Apprenticeship Week this week, is Rebecca (Becky) Richards, an apprentice in Business Administration.

Becky, 20, started working for Isos Housing (one of the three companies which merged to form Karbon Homes) in February 2016 and has not looked back since.

She was introduced to the company by TDR Training based at the Quorum Business Park on Benton Lane who help to place apprentices in businesses right across the North East.

As part of her apprenticeship, Becky studied one day per week for her online NVQ qualification, which she has now successfully passed.

Her role is to provide admin support to the Supported Housing Older Persons Adaptations Team. She works alongside the Adaptations Officer to order adaptations, request quotes from suppliers, give permission to local authorities to install adaptations such as ramps, wet rooms and stair lifts into our residents' homes. Her role is all about helping Karbon residents to live more independently.

Prior to her apprenticeship, Becky was working part-time in retail but wanted to find alternative employment working in an office and this apprenticeship has given her that opportunity.

She said: "It's been the best thing that could have happened to me. The apprenticeship has not only given me the opportunity to experience working in a business environment but also gain valuable qualifications too. I am very grateful to Karbon Homes for giving me this chance and to be part of an exciting new organisation."
