The Regulator of Social Housing recently introduced Tenant Satisfaction Measures to assess social landlords’ performance through customer surveys. We published our first results – I’m pleased to be able to share them with you. The feedback showed strong agreement that repairs are carried out quickly and to a high standard, customers feel listened to and respected by Karbon and customers feel safe in their homes due to regular safety checks. We also learnt that some customers felt they had been waiting too long for repair appointments so we have recruited additional trade operatives and sub-contractors to reduce wait times. We have also created a dedicated project team to proactively tackle damp and mould issues.
We are continuing to grow our presence in communities in Yorkshire. We have just announced a partnership with Taylor Wimpey in Ripon which will see us take on 156 new affordable homes, managed by our subsidiary 54 North Homes. At the same time, we remain wedded to our roots in the North East, where we will continue to focus on investing in our existing homes, developing new affordable homes, delivering a good service to customers, and working with partners on our placeshaping commitments in places like Byker and Stanley.
In this edition of Karbon Life, you can find out how we are working with a regional housebuilder to deliver 46 homes in Sadberge, Darlington, how our customers are being supported to live independently and how a North Tyneside hockey club has benefitted from thousands of pounds of funding thanks to our partnership with a local housebuilder.
