Welcome to our summer edition of Karbon Life, keeping our stakeholders up to date with the latest news from Karbon Homes.
I hope you had a chance to make the most of the sunshine this summer. Local kids in County Durham certainly did as they had fun at cricket camps, led by Durham Cricket Foundation and part-funded by Karbon Homes. As part of our community investment work, we pay for all the children attending to have a free lunch. Our Community Investment Team supports organisations across our region, ably assisted by our grants panel of customers. If you know someone who is a Karbon customer and would make a great addition to our grants panel – please encourage them to apply.
Delivering the types of homes local communities need is central to what we do at Karbon. In June, I was able to get out and about myself to show Rishi Sunak MP how the local community are backing our scheme for 68 homes in the village of East Cowton. The new homes will be a boost to the village school and shop and will ease flooding too. These homes are just some of the hundreds we are currently building across the North East and Yorkshire – from Bellingham to Thirsk.
In this edition, you can read about how the first residents are settling into our new supported living scheme in South Tyneside, how customers are benefitting from £3.5m of investment in more energy efficient homes and how we’re supporting children through our partnership with the Greggs Foundation.
