We’re pleased to be exploring Leazes Homes joining the Karbon Group, and we wanted to give you the opportunity to have your say.
Leazes is currently part of the Your Homes Newcastle group and is looking to become a subsidiary and transfer the management of all of their homes to us in the summer of 2024.
They have just over 750 properties, made up of general housing, supported housing, older people accommodation and shared ownership homes, all in the Newcastle upon Tyne area.
Our aims and values very much align – in terms of providing good-quality, affordable homes and local services in a shared geography as well as our focus on supported and specialist housing.
Leazes is beginning a consultation with their tenants this week to ask for their views, and Your Homes Newcastle is consulting with a number of its staff who work within Leazes about transferring to us, too. We don’t expect there to be any impact on the service our current customers receive as a result of the partnership.
We’re also asking our customers for their thoughts. If you have any feedback you’d like to provide, please email communications@karbonhomes.co.uk by 19 April. Anything you share will be considered as part of a ‘business case’ we’re putting together.
The business case looks at the legal, financial and governance arrangements of the proposed partnership. It explains why we are proposing it and the benefits. Our board will review the business case, including the feedback, and Leazes Homes Board will do the same.
