What is grounds maintenance?

The Grounds Maintenance team carry out a variety of jobs to keep the areas around your homes looking neat and tidy, and the service charge you pay monthly goes towards making this happen. 

Our Grounds Maintenance service includes: 

• Grass cutting  
• Hedge and shrub bed maintenance in communal areas  
• General upkeep including the removal of litter, leaves and debris 
• Minor tree works 
• Gritting our sheltered schemes  

Our in-house teams also carry out works in empty homes gardens, so you have a clear garden ready for when you move into your new home. They also work with our housing teams to clear untidy gardens. 

When will the grass around my home be cut? 

Our grass cutting season runs from March until October (weather permitting). We provide a range of cuts, at various frequencies, to make sure our outdoor spaces remain consistently kept throughout the season. 

Biodiversity 

Keeping our neighbourhoods healthy is important too – we're taking steps to improve our biodiversity. This includes stopping the use of Glyphosate based pesticides, and actively trying to reduce pesticide use overall. We have also started the transition from petrol operated tools to battery and moving forward we are working to improve habitats and tree planting. 

We also carry out Empty Homes Garden works, to ensure new customers have a tidy garden space for when they move in. 

We sometimes carry out minor tree works; this will depend on the scale of the issue. More complex works will be carried out by an appointed contractor.  

Who provides my grounds maintenance service? 

The areas we cover are divided into lots. There are 13 lots in total, which are serviced by 6 contractors, including Karbon’s inhouse Grounds Maintenance team.
