We recently held our first welcome event for supported housing customers!
The event held at the Customs House in South Shields, welcomed both our Supported and Sheltered Housing customers.
We created a safe, relaxed space for attendees with various support needs to meet, chat and provide feedback to us.
Your Voice Counts, a charity that supports people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people who are at risk of exclusion due to disability, also attended. They provided customers with information and support on the various activities and events they host weekly. This includes cooking classes and weekly drop in evenings.
The event also enabled us to hear directly from customers on what services and events they want to see happen, meaning we can effectively shape the service we offer them.
One customer who attended said, “these events are a reason for me to leave the house, they allow me to be social.
“I’m a completely different person after working with the Supported Housing scheme.”
Alice Murray, Supported Housing Delivery Team Leader at Karbon said “We’ve had a fantastic turn out for today’s event.
“We usually have difficulty encouraging our customers to join in with events like this, due to their support needs, but it has been great seeing everyone take part and give us some valuable feedback.
“We hope we can continue to hold events like these and use them to shape our services to benefit our customers further.”
