This week the UK celebrated International Women’s Day and on Thursday (10 March) colleagues from Karbon came together with other North East housing associations to mark the occasion at a celebration lunch.
The event at Ramside Hall, organised by Women in Social Housing (WISH) North East, shone a light on the progress women have made in social housing, the benefits of coming together as a network and the great work of the charity The Girls’ Network.
Through the work we do to help shape strong, sustainable places for our communities, we work with some incredible female led community organisations and charities, who provide life changing support for our customers.
To show our gratitude for everything they do, we invited a number of these organisations to join us and celebrate the amazing work of women in our region.
Di Keller, Strategic Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead at Karbon Homes, said:
The impact of the pandemic has disproportionately affected women in many different ways and coming together as a network, that wants to empower women, is more important than ever. I felt completely invigorated from seeing people in person, hearing the amazing stories that were shared.
“We’re lucky to have the Women in Social Housing (WISH) North East bringing us together and it was only right that we extended that opportunity to our partners to look at how we can empower the women that use their services.”
