There was a lot of eggcitement this week for our residents at The Manors who were visited by children from Adderlane First School and the team from Sure Start for some Easter activities.
The residents had a great time doing crafts with the little ones, listening to them sing and taking part in an Easter Egg hunt.
The children also helped to decorate The Manors’ Marie Curie remembrance wall which went up as part of their National Day of Reflection on Wednesday 23rd March. The idea of the wall was to remember those that we’ve lost, with the children helping to decorate it so it became a colourful, happy place to share memories of loved ones.
One of our Manors team members said:
“It was nice to be able to remember the loved ones we lost, share memories with our friends at The Manors’ and acknowledge their importance to ourselves and others.”
The residents loved spending time with the children, saying that it brought back lots of happy memories of when their kids were little.
The team at Sure Start, who offer activities to support families in the region, are looking to make the visits a monthly event as part of community integration. They said:
“It’s so beneficial that the children get to experience different environments and people. A lot of the children who attended have spent a big part of their lives in lockdown and so it’s great for them to get out and start socialising.”
