Helping out in Hartlepool: A volunteers week community clean-up

As part of Volunteers Week, we want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing colleagues from Housing, Planned Investment, and Community Investment, along with volunteers from regeneration specialists RE:GEN. Together, they rolled up their sleeves for a community clean-up day in Hartlepool on Thursday 28 May.

With skips and equipment funded through our social value programme, the team helped clear away litter and remove unwanted items—making it easier for residents to dispose of things they might have struggled with on their own. This was a fantastic opportunity to tackle fly-tipping and give the community a fresh start.

The clean-up was part of RE:GEN’s social value commitment to us following recent investment work in the area. Social value is all about enhancing the wellbeing of communities through meaningful contributions, and RE:GEN went above and beyond by funding the skips and equipment, as well as lending a helping hand.

A special thanks to our Housing Officer, Natalie Greener, who organised the event and received fantastic feedback from residents:

“The residents were really grateful for the support from Karbon and RE:GEN. We helped people dispose of larger items they couldn’t manage alone, and it was wonderful to see the positive impact on the community.”

Local residents shared their appreciation:

“Thanks so much—what an amazing thing to do!”
“This has made such a difference in just a few hours. What a great idea!”
“I love that Karbon has helped—it shows you care about your estates and customers. Natalie has made such a difference.”

A huge thank you to everyone who took part—your efforts truly made a difference!
