Homes in Redcar are benefitting from major investment as part of our wider £6m investment programme.
Through the programme, being delivered by contractor Straightline NE, 50 homes in the town are set to be modernised with a variety of upgrades, including window and door upgrades, kitchen and bathroom renovations, full electrical re-wires and renewal of heating systems.
Nathan Lowes, Investment Team Manager at Karbon Homes, said: “We’re committed to investing in the quality and efficiency of our homes, delivering proactive programmes of work to ensure our homes are great places for customers, both now and in the future.
“In partnership with Straightline we’re delivering a suite of works to hundreds of homes. From both aesthetic improvements to investments in efficiency and safety, we’ve received lots of positive feedback on the works we’ve completed so far, with customers telling us what a difference it’s making.”
Twenty-seven of the 50 homes are at Langley House, our scheme for over 55s in The Lakes area of the town, where flats have been fitted with new kitchens and upgraded windows and doors. The scheme’s communal kitchen was also upgraded, as well as all communal fire doors.
Brenda Harland, who moved to Langley House 13 years ago, was ‘very happy’ with the work completed at her home.
Brenda said: “I’m really happy with my new kitchen, and the new windows and doors have made a big difference to the feel of the flat.
“The team were absolutely brilliant from start to finish, I couldn’t say a bad word about them. When I first heard about the works, the thought of so much disruption was quite daunting, but I was well looked after and the team were willing to do anything to help make the process as easy as possible.”
Straightline will be starting work on further homes in The Lakes area of Redcar early 2027 next year, as part of a three-year programme with us, which began last year and will run through till 2027.
On completion, 600 of our properties in communities across the North East will have benefitted from investment works.
Kevin Bucas, Operations Director at Straightline said: “Receiving comments like Brenda’s is why we do what we do. Upon completion, Langley House residents benefitted from multiple phases of work to their home, and the delivery of this work whilst maintaining high customer satisfaction is testament to our liaison and supervision team. We walked away proud that Langley House is now thermally efficient with improved aesthetics, and fire safe.”
The partnership with Straightline is one element of our multi-million-pound property investment programme which will see us spend c.£135million over the next five years to ensure the continued quality of our existing homes.
