My new start

Ever fancied a total change in direction and a new challenge? We meet a few people who’ve made that happen.

Getting a job without experience can be tough but that’s where New Start comes in. This paid placement programme provides career starter roles for people aged 25 and over, and this year has supported 73 Karbon customers. Through the programme they were able to secure five-month work opportunities of up to 30 hours per week, with no prior experience required.

The partnership between Karbon and other housing providers, made roles available to customers living in our households.

More than half of the participants have gone on to secure jobs in a range of roles, from caretaking to banking and customer services.

Could you be next?
