Support for Feeding Families as demand for the charity’s services grows

As the cost-of-living continues to rise, North East food charity Feeding Families has once again seen an increase in demand for its services.

A £10,000 grant from our Community Investment Fund is helping the charity to provide 10,000 festive food packages to households continuing to feel the pinch this year.

Juliet Sanders, who set up the charity in 2017, said: “In the past year we’ve increased over 100% in demand and this Christmas we’ve seen a similar sort of increase. It just demonstrates how difficult things are for people at the moment.

“We love our partnership with Karbon Homes, it’s a full circle relationship that supports us all year round and we’re incredibly grateful for the support we receive which helps ensure we can keep going.”

We first partnered with Feeding Families in 2020 to help fund its response to the Covid-19 crisis and distribute some of its food packages to our residents and communities.

Feeding Families is also one of Karbon colleagues’ chosen charities and over the past 12 months teams across the organisation have held a number of fundraisers and carried out food and toiletry collections.

Christmas is a peak time for the charity and to deliver the 10,000 food packages needed, a group of Karbon colleagues visited its warehouse in Blaydon to help pack boxes.

Paul Moralee, Community Investment Manager at Karbon Homes, said: “Feeding Families is a fantastic charity, providing much needed support to people right across the North East.

“The relationship we’ve built up over the last three years has been mutually beneficial and we’re proud to offer extra support to them over their busy Christmas period, helping them to make Christmas special for as many families as they can.”
