Residents at The Manors Extra Care scheme enjoyed an afternoon of fun, entertainment and community spirit at a special summer party held in July.
Although the scheme was unable to hold its annual summer fayre this year, colleagues and volunteers worked together to organise an alternative celebration that proved to be a huge success.
The venue was transformed with traditional fairground-style stalls, including Candy Floss, Hook a Duck, Tin Can Alley and a Coconut Shy. The eye-catching stalls were made possible thanks to a local joiner who created the wooden frames and coconut shy base, while responders Lauren and Louise helped bring the event to life through creative artwork, decorations and stall displays.
Residents enjoyed taking part in the games, with prizes ranging from bags of sweets and popcorn to candy floss and even novelty plastic goldfish, which proved especially popular.
A tombola and raffle also helped add to the day's fundraising efforts, but one attraction stood out above the rest.
The stocks were undoubtedly the highlight of the event, with Scheme Coordinator Lauren joined by Karbon's Head of Supported Housing, Jon McDonald and local councillor Gordon Stewart. Residents and guests were invited to throw wet sponges at the willing volunteers, raising funds while providing plenty of laughs throughout the afternoon.
The celebrations concluded with a lively performance from entertainer Derek Hodgson, who had residents singing and dancing along, followed by a delicious buffet.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised more than £500 for the residents' fund, helping to support future activities and events for residents at The Manors.
