We've appointed Russell Hall as our new Director of Governance.
The role will see Russell become the Karbon Group’s Company Secretary, alongside responsibilities for the organisation’s governance, assurance and risk frameworks, with oversight of regulatory compliance and legal advice.
Paul Fiddaman, Chief Executive of Karbon Homes, said: “We are delighted to appoint Russell as our Director of Governance, who will be ensuring we maintain strict compliance with housing regulation and legislation whilst continuing to deliver our core business activities and providing quality services to customers.
“Russell’s extensive experience and proven track record in overseeing effective governance makes him a valuable addition to our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal appointment for the organisation and critical to the success of our strategy, in which we’re committed to further evolving and strengthening our governance model.”
Working as a qualified solicitor for over 25 years Russell has worked within the social housing sector for most of this time, both as a solicitor in private practice advising social housing clients, and more recently as the Company Secretary for Home Group and Head of Governance at the Riverside Group.
With extensive knowledge of operating within complex legal structures, he has also held a number of Board and Trustee roles in the sector, including a large regional social housing provider, an ALMO and a charity that provides homes and services to young people in the North East.
Russell said: “The provision of good quality, affordable housing and services within the sector is really important to me and I am hugely looking forward to working with colleagues at Karbon to help deliver those homes, communities and services to customers.
“Whilst it is a challenging time for many in the sector, Karbon has the solid foundations, strong social heart and the values needed to take up the opportunities and really deliver for customers, and I am excited to be a part of that.”
Russell is replacing Richard Fryer, the group’s executive director of governance and integration, who has retired after 13 years with the organisation.
