Karbon customer Edna Wright celebrated a remarkable milestone on Sunday 25 October as she marked her 100th birthday.
Edna, who lives at our retirement living scheme Matfen Court in County Durham, celebrated the occasion with a party in the residents' lounge, surrounded by family, friends, fellow residents and staff. The celebrations included flowers, gifts and a special birthday card from the Matfen Court team.
The birthday celebrations were a huge success, and Edna was delighted to share the occasion with so many loved ones.
Local Housing Officer Angela Knox said:
"Edna told me she has loved her life and all the wonderful people she has met over the years. She said she only has one regret, which was not accepting an invitation to tea with the Queen because she was too nervous to go."
That regret may have been softened by a special surprise on her birthday, as Edna received a congratulatory card from Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, wishing her a happy 100th birthday and sending their best wishes.
Edna has a lifetime of stories to tell and is admired by everyone who meets her. Known affectionately as 'Mother Edna', she has earned a reputation for her kindness, compassion and the care she shows to others.
Everyone at Karbon Homes would like to wish Edna a very happy 100th birthday and congratulate her on reaching such an incredible milestone.
