Karbon Homes is backing the Laptop for Kids campaign, helping young people in the North East who don’t have access to a digital device.
We’ve donated 66 tablets to the campaign, to boost digital inclusion across the region and ensure young people are able to engage in remote learning.
Through the partnership with The Northern Powerhouse Partnership and Rebuyer, the tablets will be allocated to families who currently don’t have access to a device at home.
Nathanial Ray, Assistant Director of ICT and Digital Transformation at Karbon said: “We’re proud to be supporting the Laptop for Kids campaign, helping children across the region get the education they deserve.
“There are at least 55,000 families across the North East without access to a laptop, PC or tablet, and in a world that is becoming more and more digital, this leaves lots of young people at risk of being left behind.
“Digital inclusion was a problem long before the COVID-19 pandemic, however since it began people have heavily relied on digital, particularly young people whose education has largely moved online.
“Missing out on an education stops children from reaching their potential and I hope our donation of devices will play a, albeit small, part in preventing this.”
The donation has happened as schools return after the summer break and adds to the total of almost 3,000 digital devices donated to the campaign so far by businesses across the North East.
