Karbon recommits to Make a Stand pledge

We are proud to share that we have signed the Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) Make a Stand pledge and recommitted to take action to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse is a leading reason for a household to present as homeless, and a lack of safe, affordable homes is a core reason why victims don’t leave an abusive household.

Working with Women's Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance, CIH are asking housing organisations to publicly commit to taking action to support victims of domestic abuse.

So far, more than 400 organisations have signed to CIH’s Make a Stand pledge.

We have pledged to;

  1. Implement a policy to support customers affected by domestic abuse – you can see our current Domestic Abuse Policy here.

  1. Ensure information about domestic abuse support services is available on our website and in other appropriate places so they are easily accessible – you can find more information about our support services here.

  1. Implement an HR policy to support colleagues who may be experiencing domestic abuse.

  1. Appoint a champion to drive our efforts to support people experiencing domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse can affect anyone in our homes or in our teams, and we are dedicated to improving our support for survivors. Our homes, our people, our problem.

If you would like to hear more about the pledge, contact the Chartered Institute of Housing by emailing policyandpractice@cih.org
