We’re recruiting new members for our Group Board

We’re pleased to share that we’re recruiting for three new external roles on Karbon Group Board and welcome applications from a wide range of people.

Importantly, we also welcome applications from customers who have the right skills, experience and interest in governance. Lived experience matters, and customer voices bring valuable insight into our decision‑making.

The roles available include:

  • Board Chair
  • Board Member
  • Board Trainee

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in guiding our organisation and helping us deliver on our social purpose.

About our Group Board

Our Group Board is made up of 11 experienced external professionals, alongside our Chief Executive, Paul Fiddaman. Together, they provide strategic leadership for the organisation, setting our long‑term direction, making major policy and budget decisions and overseeing our performance.

Why we’re recruiting

After six years, Alexis Cleveland is coming to the end of her tenure, having served both as a Board Member and, more recently, as our Board Chair. We are now seeking a new Chair to lead the Board into its next chapter.

We’re also recruiting a new Board Member following the completion of Hanif Malik’s term.

Finally, building on the success of our first cohort and continuing our partnership with the Housing Diversity Network, we’re pleased to once again offer a Board Trainee opportunity, supporting the development of future board leaders.

The roles

Board Chair

As Chair of the Group Board, the successful candidate will provide leadership across the Board, helping to shape our strategic direction and ensure strong, effective governance.

Working closely with fellow Board Members and our Executive Team, the Chair will play a vital role in supporting long‑term organisational performance and success. The Chair also sets the tone and culture of the Board, ensuring constructive challenge, robust decision‑making and a strong focus on delivering our social purpose.

  • Community engagement and investment
  • Place‑making and regeneration
  • Current or recent lived experience of social housing

Board Trainee

In partnership with the Housing Diversity Network, we are recruiting a Board Trainee to join the Group Board on a two‑year fixed‑term basis.

This role is open to emerging leaders who do not need prior board experience but who bring curiosity, fresh thinking and a strong commitment to social purpose. The Board Trainee will gain hands‑on insight into board‑level leadership, governance and decision‑making by observing Board and Committee meetings.

The role includes a structured induction and development programme to support learning and progression.

We’re holding a virtual open event on Monday 13 April, 11am to 12pm, to find out more about the role and for those interested to ask any questions.  Find out more, as well as details of how to apply here: Board Trainee
