Work is underway on regeneration of bungalows at The Haven

We've begun demolition work at The Haven in Prudhoe, as part of a £1.1m investment in regeneration of homes in the area.

The project, delivered in partnership with contractor NB Clark, will see 10 one-bed bungalows on the site replaced with six, more modern and spacious two-bed bungalows, all of which will be available for affordable rent.

By upgrading the bungalows to meet the current and changing needs of residents, we hope the investment will strengthen our housing offer for older people in the area.

Zoey Hawthorne, Assistant Director of Development Delivery at Karbon Homes said: “This is an exciting first step in our investment to ensure we can provide our customers with good quality, modern homes that meet their needs and the needs of others in the future.

“We worked closely with the former residents of the 10 bungalows, who have all been rehoused in suitable, accessible homes in their chosen location. The welfare of our residents is our top priority and we ensured they were supported throughout the process.”

The project is being backed by Northumberland County Councillor for Prudhoe South and Deputy Cabinet Member for Community Services, Cllr Gordon Stewart.

Cllr Stewart said: “'I’m delighted that substantial investment is being made into the provision of these modern bungalows, in an ideal town centre location.

“The new homes will be very popular with local people, as they have two bedrooms and a parking space, which are now the preferred choice of many.”

Building work for the new bungalows is expected to start in mid to late April with completion of the new homes expected by March 2023.
